Natural Pain Relief

Welcome to the new and improved BeautynHealth.com Blog.

New Tools for a Better Mood.... And a Better Approach to Pain  and Addictions.

Is there anyone that doesn't experience low moods or pain or know someone that does unfortunately suffer from Pain or Low Mood Levels or even Addictions. I know that I have suffered from all of them and I am happy to say that "there are ways we can begin to alleviate and even cure these problems with naturopathic allies that are actually healthy for us."

My Personal Story of How Pain Transformed My Life and Changed it Forever ?

I would like to share with you my story in hopes that others may begin to find some beneficial relief as I have.

I have experienced debilitating and persistent back pain for years.  This stemmed from herniating a disc L5S1)  in 1987 while I was employed as a propmaker (studio carpenter) and special effects) for a major motion picture studio in Hollywood.

At the time I was in the best physical shape of my whole life and considered myself a cross between Superman, Tarzan and Arnold Schwarzenneger (former Mr. Olympia and Gubernator of California).  I surfed the coasts of California, Mexico and Hawaii.  I was an aerobics instructor,  personal trainer and body builder and studied dance with some of the top dance teachers in Los Angeles. I ran twenty miles per week. I was in such good shape that after surfing for 3-5 hours at Malibu or some other Californian surf spot or taking two dance classes in a row, I'd go to the gym for a mammoth work out which included heavy power lifting and stretching and more aerobics. The general consensus among my friends and family was that they thought "it was crazy that I considered surfing or dance class just a warm up to my exercise day." But that was me. I was thirty-three and felt invincible. Sure, I suffered from strains and sprains from time to time but fortunately I always healed quickly.

We were working on a downtown Los Angeles location in an old warehouse that had been built around 1890 along the railroad tracks in one of the oldest sections of downtown.  It was winter and a very unseasonably cold week in Los Angeles.  My call time was six a.m.  I parked outside and unloaded my eighty pound tool box out of the trunk of my Mustang GT and rolled it into the freezing building. When you step onto a soundstage or warehouse at that time of the morning it is usually colder than the temperature outside. An unheated old cement building acts as a freezer and retains the cold.  Our assignment that day was to remove the old sets from the previous shooting company and begin to construct the new ones for the television show "Beauty and the Beast' a short lived series that only lasted one or two seasons and never made it into syndication.

There were about twenty of us propmakers present that morning.  After pouring a hot cup of coffee and strapping on my heavy tool belt filled with a hammer, chisels, squares, wrenches, screwdrivers, tape measure and nails the foreman put us into groups and gave each of us different assignments. Two other carpenters and myself were assigned to move some sets from were they had been sitting to outside...behind the building and then we were given blueprints to construct some walls in the same place the old set had been. The previous filming company, as it turns out had been a large budget adult movie producer and the sets had been built for a take off on "Star Wars." They were oddly shaped ramps with wall that were extremely heavy and cumbersome, even though they didn't appear that way.

Two of my fellow Local 44 propmakers and I started to lift the oddly shaped and extremely heavy ramp/wall/set off of the ground.  I was on one end and the other guys shared the burden of the other side.  As we lifted one of the other carpenters lost their grip and I tried to keep my side up, the whole balance was on me and then all of a sudden..Pop, my back went and I fell to the floor writhing in agony. I couldn't move for a few minutes and the pain was more sever than anything I had ever experienced before.  I was sent home and barely made it into bed.  I took some tylenol and it gave no relief.  Because I had always worked or exercised through pain I thought I would be able to do the same, so I went back to work a couple of days later.  It hurt so terribly that I had to quit the show.

Still having hopes that this was only temporary, I tried to go on with my life with some level of normalcy.  The pain was getting worse every day and then the sciatica started up.  Besides the intolerable back pain, I was starting to experience hot molten lava like jolts of electricity running through my right hip and down my leg and my foot. This I was told, was called, "Sciatica."

Most people thought I was a bit of a nut, because since the early 70's I had embraced organic foods and a more natural way of healing, living and thinking. I was one of the first of my peers to attempt to live  this way. So my approach to dealing with this chronic pain was to try, yoga, massage, acupuncture, chiropractics, meditation, easy exercise and other holistic ways.  Those treatments did offer some temporary relief and I'm still a huge fan of all of those therapies.  However, in my case the relief didn't last long. After xrays and MRI's the doctors recommended that a lamenectomy would be the only treatment that might offer relief. I was aghast at the thought. In the meantime the doctors prescribed pain killers.(it's what they do and all they know). I repeatedly asked, "if perhaps there might be a natural alternative for pain relief," and none of them could offer me an answer to that question. So, I started to try different types of pain medicaton; tylenol with codeine, codeine, anti imflammatories and they just were making me groggy and mindless.  I also started adding hard liquor, first one shot, then two and a glass along with the pain meds This did help with some of the pain symptoms but only temporarily and the next morning I felt like a zombie and I knew I was on a downward spiral and not the path I wanted to pursue for my life.

A very good friend of mine, Spice Williams who is now world renowned for her work in naturopathics, body building, acting, teaching self defense and more had been working with one of the world's foremost authorities on amino acids; Don Tyson.  I had been taking his complete amino acid formulas for a couple of years and found them to be incredible.  I spoke to Don and he suggested, "that I try D Phenylalanine." He explained, "that D Phenylalanine, not the L form and not DLPA which is a combination of the right and left sided Phenylalanine molecule could offer me some natural pain relief without the narcotic or alcohol hangover."  He was right!  It worked at least as well for me as the prescription pain medication and alcohol which were not stopping the pain, only taking the edge off of it, while pickling my liver. I took two grams at a time of the D Phenylalanine every 5-8 hours and it began to reduce the sharpness and intensity of my aching back and stinging sciatica.  It didn't take away the pain, but neither did the poison that the modern medical profession had suggested.

A few years later I did eventually get the lamenectomy and the sciatica did go away, however the back pain remained, though not quite as painful as before.  I did take D Phenylalanine pre and post surgery and was able to greatly lessen the time spent heavily drugged and the amount of prescribed pain relievers.

Why did the D Phenylalanine make such a huge difference? Because it stimulates the body's production of ENDORPHINS. Endorphins are the body's most powerful pain reliever known. They are 20-500 times stronger than any man made drugs! The name "ENDORPHINS", stand for "endogenous morphine" because endorphins resemble the morphine molecules and behave similarly.  What this means is that endorphins are very much like morphine, only your body manufactures it and this also means that endorphins are non-addictive.

The question is "How can I safely raise my endorphin level naturally?" Some of your immune cells contain endorphins. Your body's natural response to injuries, cuts, bruises and physical trauma, includes rapid migration of your immune cells to the site of the pain. Your immune cells then release these Endorphins naturally relieving pain. However, an enzyme called Carboxypeptidase-A (CPA) breaks down endorphins, but at the same time balances them at a steady level. But, there are times such as in pain, stress, drug addiction and low moods where we need more endorphins than usual so we can go on with our daily lives.

The BEST NEWS is that From the Heart Nutraceuticals produces the purest Medical/Pharmaceutical Grade D Phenylalanine and it helps to shut down the CPA thus allowing more endorphins to function in our body.

Do not confuse D Phen with L Phen or DLPA.  Most companies that work with D Phenylalanine add the L form simply because it cost 1/10th of the cost of  D Phenylalanine. L Phenylalanine does have a place in homeopathic nutrition however it doesn't do a thing for pain and is not suggested for pregnant women and it raises your blood pressure which makes pain worse.

From the Heart Nutraceuticals (FTH) D Phenylalanine may help your pain, reduce cravings, help with drug withdrawal and help with mood and that is why we started manufacturing D Phenylalanine twelve years ago.  It helped me and there's an excellent chance it may help you too.

We hope you never experience what I did, but if you find there's a need please use the highest quality available.  I do and that product is FTH Nutracueticals D Phenylalanine in vegie caps.
